Vallée de Triomphe
For those of ya'll who may not know this, I am obsessed with the French. The ever fashionable, lavish, and elegant people who swept me away when I went to Europe with People to People during my otherwise dull high school career. Even though we went to other places besides France (Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland), nothing captured my heart like the cobblestone streets of Paris. So it's no surprise that my new art project is reflective of that. Vallée de Triomphe (Valley of Triumph) is my attempt at returning to my first love-photography-by showing the Imperial Valley in the same lens that I saw France through. The French title of the project-and the pieces within it-as well as the editing itself, are my way of romanticizing where I live the same way people romanticize the iconic city.
The Imperial Valley gets such a desolate connotation, that the small highlights of enchantment are overlooked. I entitled the project Valley of Triumph because not only do I want to show the Imperial Valley as it is, but also the triumph of beauty within it.
The project is ongoing until...well...whenever. It will feature the people, geography, and landmarks of the Imperial Valley from the point of view of someone in it (me, obvi). I'll be posting the photos on my instagram, tumblr, and facebook. Below are the first 3 photos.
